American House Choir Honors 9/11 with Students

In honor of 9/11’s eleventh anniversary, the American House Choir took part in a memorable intergenerational program for all involved. Members of the American House Choir joined 4th and 5th graders from Holy Family Regional School in Rochester Hills where they conducted a patriotic performance for students. Have a listen through the video below:

American House Choir members also sang a tune with the students called, “American Tears,” a song that honors all who have served our country and are currently serving.

Here are the lyrics to this special song that also honored the victims and heroes of 9/11.

American Tears Lyrics:

Sometimes I think about America. About her struggles through the years.
I think of people who, did what they had to do with the strength to act their fears.
Sometimes I think about America. About her future and her past.
I know I’m blessed to be, living in Liberty. In a land where freedom will last.

For the heroes. For the patriots. For the soliders. For all the pioneers.
I will always be an American, and I’ll always cry American Tears.

Sometimes I think about America, about her people’s legacy
I wonder if they knew, that what they had to do
Would be known throughout history.
Sometimes I think about America. About her pain along the way
I know it had to be for our democracy. For the world we live in today.

For the heroes. For the patriots. For the soldiers. For all the pioneers.
I will always be an American, and I’ll always cry American Tears.

For the heroes. For the patriots. For the soliders. For all the pioneers.
I will always be an American, and I’ll always cry American Tears.

Yes, I will always be, an American…and I’ll always cry American Tears.

These singing residents of American House Senior Living Communities traveled across a tri-county area to other schools including Rochester Hills and Princeton Elementary in St. Clair Shores. At American House Senior Living Communities, we are proud to offer our residents life enrichment programs such as the choir.

The American House Choir was thankful to be featured for this special 9/11 anniversary activity in a variety of news sources.

May 9/11 be forever in our hearts.

American House Idol

Grab your favorite chair and get comfy — it’s time for “American House Idol!”

Meet Will, one of our resident crooners at American House Grand Blanc. Will is known as the “Music Man” because he’s constantly breaking out in song — usually by request because he has such a beautiful voice. Luckily for Will, we had an “American House Idol” event recently where he had a great excuse to sing his heart out in front of his family and friends!

The former boxer is not shy and he is often asked to sing along with the entertainers during happy hour at American House. Will loves to entertain and sing for his family, which includes five children – two of whom are twins. His favorite musical genre? Motown!

Watch and listen as Will tackles the vocal style of the late, great Sam Cooke and his top hit, “Bring it on Home to Me.” Will, always a charmer, captivates the audience with his heartfelt rendition of the King of Soul’s ballad — and if you listen closely, you can even hear a fan or two chiming in with some background vocals!

At American House, we believe in offering fun and unique opportunities for our residents to showcase their talents. Contact us today to find out about the many activities our residents enjoy while living at American House — because the happiness of our residents is the heart and soul of our community.

We think Will has soul, don’t you?
